If you’re a comic-book movie fan, you know what it’s like to rank your favorite super hero flicks. Sure, you can say that film A is your most favorite, and film Z the least memorable, but what about those movies in between? Well, today I’ll try my best to rank all 20 Marvel movies, from the ancient Incredible Hulk to the most recent Ant Man and the Wasp.
Since there are way too many details to mention for every movie, and this is not supposed to be a review of each of them, I’ll try to express in short bursts what makes them stand out for me personally. Feel free to disagree, but remember, #20 doesn’t mean I hated the movie, it just means I like the ones above it better. Alright, let’s revisit those MCU movies one more time!
20. The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Edward Norton is always a win, and seeing the Abomination, one of the most iconic Hulk villains from the comics, on the big screen is definitely worth some praise.
19. Black Panther (2018)
Visuals and music will give you goosebumps for sure. Not to mention this is probably the best black Batman movie to this day!
18. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Red Skull stole the show and gave us the first Infinity Stone. As to Cap America himself, I’m not the biggest fan of this character.
17. Iron Man 3 (2013)
Everything about the Extremis serum was great. I just wish it had some lasting consequences on the continuity. Oh and seeing all the different Iron Man suits in action was truly amazing.
16. Iron Man 2 (2010)
A suitcase that turns into an Iron Man suit? A crazy Russian villain with plasma whips? Iron Man + War Machine teamwork? Sign me up!
15. Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Hey, it’s the second Infinity Stone! Also, Christopher Eccleston’s Malekith was just great.
14. Thor (2011)
The Destroyer Armor is one of the coolest Marvel “characters”, IMO. And there’s the fan-favorite Loki and a bunch of interesting, world-building lore in here!
13. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
Supreme shrinking action, trippy Quantum Realm visuals, and Louis. Gosh darn Louis steals the show… AGAIN!
12. Doctor Strange (2016)
Speaking of trippy visuals… holy cannoli! There’s a lot of those in Doctor Strange. Oh, yeah, and what about that Time Stone, eh?
11. Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Heroes going against each other in an epic brawl was one of the most iconic MCU scenes to date. And let’s not forget we finally got to see Spider-Man duking it out with the Avengers!
10. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
James Spader as Ultron’s voice is the best thing that happened in the entire MCU. Too bad the rest of the movie wasn’t as good.
9. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Currently, this is the only MCU movie that made me cry like a lil’ girl in the end. Also, Baby Groot is totally adorable!
8. Ant-Man (2015)
Best thing about Ant-Man? Paul Rudd and Michael Pena. Hands down. But let’s not forget our first trip to the Quantum Realm!
7. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Look, it’s Spider-Man and Iron Man… together… in one movie. How do you not love it? Especially with Keaton as the Vulture!
6. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Probably the best non-superhero movie Marvel’s ever made. Also, yay, Bucky is alive and he’s the Winter Soldier!
5. Iron Man (2008)
On the opposite side of CA:TWS, we have the most classic superhero origin story. Nothing beats that scene with Iron Man MK-1 suit wrecking all those bad guys.
4. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
A space-based team of inter-galactic misfits trying to kick some sadistic Kree’s blue butt to save the galaxy? What’s not to love? And the soundtrack… Odin’s beard, the GotG soundtrack is outstanding!
3. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Taika Waititi and his vision have given us one of the most fresh takes on a somewhat “stale” character – the MCU Thor. It looks great, sounds even better, and it’ll make you laugh!
2. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
The most epic of the MCU films featuring all our favorite heroes uniting against Thanos and his army of space dogs. What can I say that hasn’t been said before about this movie… *snaps fingers* Oh, I know – Thanos did nothing wrong!
1. Marvel’s The Avengers (2012)
The first Avengers is Joss Whedon’s baby through and through. From the witty banter of the characters, to the now-iconic action scenes like the team assembling, or Loki getting smacked like a dirty rug by the Hulk. You know what, scratch that. Everything about this movie is perfect!
