Seems like the 21st century is going to be all about personal growth. We’re starting to realize that there’s more to our limited time on this planet than just working until you’re one foot in the grave and saving all your money so you can give something to your children. People are starting to enjoy the here and now, and starting to do stuff for themselves. But how do you get started on something like that?
If you want to make your life more interesting and get out of your current situation, here’s a few tips unexpected on how you can start.
Quit Your Job
Easy enough, right? Working fulltime takes up a lot of our time and energy – both of which are limited resources. The only thing it offers in return is our third limited resource: money. If you have plenty of one, there’s no need to keep sacrificing the others.
Travel The World
Maybe not quitting your job outright, but just taking a few months off to see the world can be quite a fulfilling experience. Who knows, you might not even want to come back in the first place!
Throw Out Electronic Devices
Yes, being constantly available is nice. But it’s also kind of weird: why would we need to be 100% available 100% of the time? We spend so much of our time behind screens that we forget that the real beauty to look at is all around us.
Do Something With Your Hands
Whether it’s writing, drawing, woodworking, pottery or whatever … Taking up a new form of art can allow you to see the world in a different way and discover a new passion in your life.
Be Kind To People
This one is pretty obvious: giving happiness creates happiness. Maybe helping other people and showing random acts of kindness will somehow energize you to keep going.
Do Something Impulsive
While making thoughtful decisions is useful for the most part of your life, it never hurts to – literally – flip a coin for decision making every now and then. What’s the worst that could happen? Heads, you go to town with some friends and have a few drinks; tails, you stay indoors and read that book that’s been sitting on your shelf.
