The last thing you want to hear is that there are people who will profit from your suffering, but that’s just the way things work in this world. Coronavirus is here, and so far, there’s not much we can do about it except to wash our hands every so often, and staying at home.
There are a lot of companies and services that will benefit from all of us staying inside during the quarantine. And we don’t mean the obvious answers like the mask and toilet paper manufacturers.
1. Online shopping and delivery
It’s simple — people do not go to retail stores to avoid the virus, so their only method of survival is ordering everything they need on the Internet. It would also be cool to use drones for delivery, but regular humans will do, too.
2. WebMD and other online doctors
In many countries, people will look up the symptoms online, rather than going to a clinic. Sometimes they’ll even pay money to get an appointment over Skype.
3. Online education
Websites like Lynda, Coursera, Khan Academy, or Udacity should show a huge boost in visitors. Everyone should get a new hobby!
4. Streaming services
Staying at home, people will spend more time watching Netflix, Disney +, Apple, Hulu, HBO, and maybe even YouTube.
5. Online gaming services
Servers of countless MMOs like World of Tanks, League of Legends, or even Minecraft, will light up like Christmas trees while the virus still rampages the world.
6. Social networks
When you’re bored out of your skull, you’ll be glad to have access to any social network even if it’s just to check on your friends. People will definitely spend more time on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, etc. The same can be said about Google, messengers, and various VoIP services such as Skype.
7. Task-managеment sites
People will need to work from home, which means that any collaboration services such as Trello, Jira, Slack will welcome more customers.
8. Office equipment sellers
To work at home, many people will need the peripherals, which means that printers, copiers, routers, etc. will be selling like hotcakes!
9. Sporting equipment
Those who spend more time at home will most likely exercise at home. So, sports equipment will be in great demand.
10. Utility providers
And of course, since we’re all stuck at home, our electricity, gas, and phone bills will blow up.
