8 Child Actors Corrupted by Fame

People often don’t know what to do with massive amounts of fame and wealth, especially if they’re just kids. It’s true that these young movie and TV stars have been living their best life, but some of them have absolutely gone off the deep end.

Let’s see what money and drugs can do to youngsters in Hollywood.

1. Mara Wilson

Mara Wilson was the face of childhood in unforgettable movies like Matilda and Mrs. Doubtfire. But growing up in Hollywood was too tough for her. Wilson had dealt with a lot of pressure which resulted in mental health issues. The actress took a break to focus on her well-being and education, and now she’s back, advocating for mental health and doing cool stuff in the entertainment business.

2. Macaulay Culkin

The Home Alone star, Macaulay Culkin, is quite infamous for wasting his childhood and teenage years. He became a huge deal in the ’90s with his funny antics. But fame got to him as well. He got hooked on drugs and had a huge falling out with his family. Culkin took an extended break from acting, but now he’s back, sober, and making a comeback in Hollywood. You can catch Macaulay on American Horror Story and follow him on social media for more funny shenanigans.

3. Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes was a rising star in the 2000s, but life decided to make things tough for her. DUIs, mental health issues, and setting fire to driveways — that’s crazy! Fortunately, Bynes got the help she needed and has been steadily improving her mental health for years to finally make a comeback in acting. Can she pull this off? We’ll see!

4. Jonathan Taylor Thomas

Remember the heartthrob from Home Improvement? In case you weren’t born yet, that was Jonathan Taylor Thomas, or JTT for short. It seemed as if he was all on the cover of every teen magazine back in the day, and you know well what that kind of ego boost does to a handsome young man’s psyche. But props to JTT for not breaking completely and stepping away from showbiz to focus on education and private life. He’s also been involved in philanthropy and doing his own thing away from Hollywood.

5. Corey Feldman

Corey Feldman was one of the most popular kids in the ’80s, mostly because he starred in cool movies like Stand by Me and The Goonies. But behind the scenes, he was living through some serious abuse and drug addiction. Feldman has suffered so much, and yet he’s still making music and acting in movies and shows. But most importantly, Corey is not afraid to speak up about child abuse in Hollywood.

6. Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan is the talented actress who won our hearts with her fantastic double role in The Parent Trap and, of course, the classic Mean Girls. But then things got messy. Excessive drinking led to DUIs and erratic behavior. It was a rough patch in Lohan’s career, to say the least, but now she’s back on track. She completed rehab, worked on her sobriety, and made a comeback with Falling for Christmas on Netflix. Go, Lindsay!

7. Gary Coleman

Remember the witty kid from Different Strokes? That’s Gary Coleman, and he had many issues with his parents, who took advantage of him, which inadvertently caused health and mental issues. His career was in decline, and he had to face legal troubles to fight for what was his. Sadly, he passed away in 2010. But we’ll always remember his talent and the joy he brought us.

8. Shia LaBeouf

And lastly, let’s all go back in our minds to the 90s and remember the kid from Even Stevens. That’s the same Shia LaBeouf who appeared in Transformers, yes. He did some cool movies like Holes and Disturbia, but then something went wrong, and the actor started doing crazy stuff. Multiple arrests, weird outfits, and even abuse allegations. The list kept expanding. Eventually, LeBeouf took a break from acting to focus on his mental health and made a personal movie called Honey Boy. Despite all the drama, he’s still a talented actor trying to make things right.
