In a world where conformity is often the easy way out, it’s refreshing to come across families that break the mold. Taking into account that even the most ordinary family can be quite unique, it’s not a stretch to say that, let’s say, a family of Indian albinos, on a family where one guy married over 30 women and they have around 100 kids in total, would be a pain. Every family on this list has faced their own set of challenges and obstacles, but they have also found strength and resilience in its uniqueness.
1. The largest albino family
The head of the Pullan family, Roseturi, his wife Mani, their children, and grandchildren all claim to be very proud of their skin color. However, at the same time, it could become a problem when they go to the dentist or just do some shopping in the mall. The Pullan family are exiles in Delhi. They are laughed at, feared, and shunned for no other reason that their skin color. Additionally, being albinos, their skin does not have protection against UV rays and burns quickly, so they should not go outside on a hot day. As a result, life in India becomes very problematic for this family, as it’s very hot and sunny all year long. It’s a good thing that they are very happy to be special, as they consider their condition to be a gift from God.
2. Family of dwarfs
Friends call Trent and Amber Johnston “Brad and Angelina of the little people,” hinting at the fact that, like the famous Hollywood family, these two have adopted children from all over the world. Their son Alex is from South Korea, and their daughters Anna and Emma are from Siberia and China, respectively. Together with two kids of their own, the Johnston family has seven members and is the largest family of dwarfs in the world. All family members were diagnosed with achondroplasia, a disease that causes limb shortening, but they’re quite popular in America, as they’re all stars of their own reality show.
3. The hairiest family
All members of the Aceves family have been diagnosed with the same disease – hypertrichosis. The first member of this family who had this condition was the great-grandmother over 80 years ago. The hypertrichosis was then passed on to her son Jesus and his children and cousins. As a result, over 30 members of the Aceves family are now living with this rare illness. Three of Jesus’s daughters, who were born from completely different women, also inherited hypertrichosis.
4. The largest family
This Indian family from the state of Mizoram is considered the largest on our planet. The head of this immense family, Zion Chan, married 39 women and collectively has at least 94 children. A man and all his 39 wives live in a humongous 4-story house together. Despite the fact that Zion is already a grandfather and has 33 grandchildren, he still feels young and perky. A few years ago, he was planning on getting married again, and that means that at this time, he may have well over 100 children!
5. The tallest family
The Trapp family living in Minnesota has officially become the tallest family in the world. The youngest member of the Trapps, 25-year-old Adam, is surprisingly the tallest of the bunch, measuring 7’3” and probably looking down on us mortals. According to the Guinness World Records representatives, their medium height was measured at 6 feet, 8.03 inches.
6. The oldest mother in the world
In 2008, a resident of India named Rajo Devi Lohan became a mother at the age of 70. This would be a big deal even if it weren’t her firstborn, but taking that fact into account, it’s nothing short of a miracle! This is a unique case, as she gave birth without any complications, and her daughter came out into this world quite healthy.
7. A family with 14 sons
Up until 2020, the Schwandt family from Michigan was known as the “boys-only zone.” Kateri and Jay have been married for over 20 years, and in that time, they had 14 kids, all of whom were boys. It took the Schwandts 15 tries to finally add a little splash of pink to their house, as they finally gave birth to a cute baby girl named Maggie Jayne.
