Freaks and Geeks was a television series about outcast teenagers in high school. The eighteen episodes aired from 1999 to 2000 before the show was canceled, but even today, it’s considered one of the most iconic pieces of television, and many of the series’ actors have become big Hollywood names.
It’s been 22 years since the series ended, and now is the time to see how the cast of Freaks and Geeks has changed in these two decades.
1. Linda Cardellini as Lindsey Weir
You probably know Linda from the Avengers and the Hawkeye series, where she played Laura Barton. Aside from the Marvel fame, she starred in Mad Men, Bloodline, and a whole lot of voice roles for animated shows.
2. John Francis Daley as Sam Weir
Daley’s career after Freaks and Geeks wasn’t as stellar as some of the other actors on this list, but he was in Bones for seven seasons, and he did great!
3. Samm Levine played Neil Schweiber
F&G was Samm’s first big role, and after it ended, the actor started getting dozens of mid-tier offers every year. Sadly, there’s not much to talk about when it comes to Samm’s filmography, but having 122 acting credits on IMDb is nothing to scoff at.
4. James Franco as Daniel Desario
Like Samm Levine, Franco got his start in acting on Freaks and Geeks, where he portrayed a “bad boy” Daniel Desario. We don’t need to tell you how much this dude’s career blew up after that. He was in Spider-Man 2 and 3, 127 Hours, Oz the Great and Powerful, and many more.
5. Seth Rogan as Ken Miller
Today Seth Rogan is as famous as Charlie Chaplin even though many viewers think he’s just an unfunny stoner. You can say whatever you want about his acting skills, but the guy knows what he’s doing. Shrek movies, Kung Fu Panda, Arrested Development, The Interview, and hundreds more, not counting his producer, writer, or director accomplishments.
6. Jason Segel played Nick Annapolis
Jason Segel may not be the most prolific actor on this list, but thanks to him, we have Freaks and Geeks, and How I met Your Mother, so he gets an automatic pass.
7. Sarah Hagan as Millie
Aside from nailing her role as Millie in F&G, Sarah also starred in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Jess+Moss. She is still active in showbiz, but her projects are not something to write home about.
8. Lizzy Caplan as Sarah
Lizzy has been a very busy bee ever since the Freaks and Geeks got canceled. She starred in over 50 projects, including Smallville, Tru Calling, True Blood, New Girl, Masters of Sex, and many others.
9. Natasha Melnik as Cindy
Natasha’s career started in 1998 with a small role in the Parent Trap. After appearing on Freaks and Geeks, the actress went on to star in shows like Do-Over and Boston Public, as well as taking many smaller roles on lesser-known projects like Iron Man, Family Guy, and Orange County.
