Will “Clarice” Live Up to the Hype?

In case you missed it, the legendary thriller “The Silence of the Lambs” is getting a sequel in the form of the series titled “Clarice.” The show will take place one year after the events of the movie, where we’ll follow up with our favorite main protagonist, FBI agent Clarice Starling. In the sequel, she will return to Washington DC to chase new serial killers and other menacing threats.

To refresh your memory, “The Silence of the Lambs” was based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Harris. In the original movie, Clarice Starling was played by Jodie Foster and will now be replaced by the young and talented Rebecca Breeds, whom you may know from her roles in “Pretty Little Liars” and “the Originals.” The first film, starring Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter, won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Even though we just got the first trailer, we can’t really tell how good (or bad) “Clarice” will be, but we can make a few assumptions. Since the action will take place in the 90s’, there will probably be some tropes about female FBI agents being shunned by male coworkers. Like it or not, that’s how things were done back in the day. So hopefully, we’ll get some social justice for Clarice.

As to Clarice’s number one fan, the showrunners have already stated that Hannibal Lecter will not appear in the TV series, at least not in season one. But the absence of Hannibal could be a good thing. Since we all love this bad boy so much, no matter if it’s Hopkins or Mikelssen, how is this a positive twist? We got two words for you: new psychos. Clarice will have to explore this messed up world after having already seen the worst part of it – Lecter, so there’s a good chance the new foes will not live up to Lecter’s level. But we could be wrong.

Aside from that, the cinematography looks gorgeous, and the visual effects would make even the most faithful fans cry tears of joy. So will you give it a shot? Please, let us know in the comments!
