Remember when we didn’t have Covid? Yeah, neither do I. And it’s looking more and more like this Holiday season will be one we spend in a very intimate circle – in a good ol’ quarantine. But what are people supposed to do when all you’ve got to celebrate are your comfortable couch, a TV and snacks no one else can eat?
Oh, that’s right. You can watch a movie. Let’s take a look at some 100% covid-proof movie choices for your Holiday season this year.
Love Actually
Why have one love story if you can have literally every single one of them? It’s the perfect movie for men, as it’s a rom-com that will get you through all the typical rom-com movie night garbage in only 90 excruciatingly long minutes. I mean, it has its good moments, too.
Elf
I know, I know. It’s a Will Ferrell movie, so it’s gonna be a hit or miss for most people. But it was made by Jon Favreau, the guy you may know from such projects as Iron Man and The Mandalorian. If that doesn’t convince you and you don’t care much about Will Ferrell, you probably won’t enjoy watching this.
Last Christmas
A Christmas movie starring Khaleesi, the Mother of Dragons? Sure, why not! The title also sort of spoils you that it’ll have a certain Wham! song in it, which may or may not convince you to watch it. It’s getting pretty decent reviews on IMDB too, so that’s that.
The Holiday
You can’t have a holiday yourself, but you can watch Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet have one instead. It also has a love story arc (as Holiday movies do) and it’s apparently set during the actual Holidays because everyone is wearing warm clothing. Could also be a chilly spring day, but no reason to ask too many questions.
Krampus
If you’re not into the whole rom-com thing, there’s also a bunch of decent Evil Santa movies around. Krampus would be the most recent and/or best-known one, and it’s perfect if you want to have a light horror tone to your Christmas movie night.
Die Hard
It’s a Christmas movie and we have to leave something for the single men out there, don’t we? This truly heartbreaking story about a family man trying to save everyone from a terrorist attack on Christmas Eve will fill you with holiday glee. And if it doesn’t, it’s still a classic 90’s action movie, which is always a good time. Expect one-liners, lots of gunfire, and Professor Snape as a terrorist.
Home Alone
I mean, if you’re going to be Home Alone anyway, might as well. They pretty much show the movie on all the channels on Christmas Eve, so no need to worry about its availability. It’ll probably be harder to not see it this Holiday season.
