The 2020 US presidential election promises to be a hell of a spectacle. And it’s not just the pandemic that threatens to disrupt the usual course of voting. One of the candidates, let’s not name names, but it rhymes with “chump,” has already transparently hinted several times that he might not accept the election results if they turn out to be not in his favor. Experts are alarmed that America is on the verge of a constitutional crisis that could lead to anarchy.
That said, if you’re a US citizen, then put on your mask and go vote when the time comes. Even if you completely disagree with everything you’re about to see, your vote still counts, for better or worse.
Here are 9 (out of many more) reasons not to vote for Trump in the 2020 election.
1. Trump is yet to release his tax returns
Do you know how Trump have his hands in a crap ton of businesses? He’s not supposed to have access to them and be the POTUS at the same time. Hotels, trading companies, shady businesses worldwide — these are just a handful of services that are 100% conflicting with his presidential status.
2. Trump Vetoed Student Loan Forgiveness Bill
Student loans are a huge deal and bring the country billions of dollars annually. The cases where students became victims of illegal or deceptive practices from the schools’ side are a dime a dozen. This is why the student loan forgiveness system exists. Well, I suppose it used to exist. Without this system, students are screwed, as they’d be obliged to pay off every penny even if the school went under without giving them employment or allowing them to finish their degree.
3. Trump called Mexicans “criminals” and “rapists”
Actually, his exact words were: “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” Yes, this was four years ago, but I honestly doubt Trump changed his mind. And that’s just one of ma-a-a-ny horrible things he said about Mexico and Mexicans.
4. Over 62 million Americans filed for unemployment during Trump’s reign
Certainly, many of these people were screwed over by the COVID-19, but didn’t Trump say that the virus is just a Chinese hoax and that everything will be fine and dandy? Yeah, he did. And now millions of people are suffering the consequences of the orange idiot.
5. Trump played down the COVID-19 threat, knowing that it was real
As mentioned above, Trump knew about the COVID-19, and how dangerous it was, weeks before the first confirmed case in the US. He kept playing the virus down, and I’d be fine with that if he did it for the nation’s sake, to keep everyone from panicking. But, that’s just my assumption, Trump would lose millions of dollars in profits if he closed the airports and seaports. It’s either that or he’s really not that smart.
6. Most deaths from COVID-19 than any other country
Who can argue with numbers? 7.5 million infected people and over 212,000 deaths. All because Trump made the virus look like it’s nothing and kept saying that everything will be fine. Yes, it will be, for those who survive the pandemic.
And this just in, both Donald and Melania have tested positively for COVID-19. So, GG, I guess.
7. Trump suggested injecting disinfectant to treat COVID-19
If disinfectants kill the virus, that means we can just inject them into veins, right? No? Why not? It’s just… do I even have to comment on this?
8. Trump doesn’t believe in climate change
Here’s the deal: nobody can take your beliefs away from you. You can believe in many different things, but fool-proof facts do not require involving your opinions because they are facts. It’s like saying, “I believe cars can run on thoughts and prayers.”
9. Trump believes vaccines can cause autism
And finally, there’s the age-old misconception about vaccines causing autism. Anyone who believes unsubstantiated claims like that one needs to educate themselves on the subject. Clearly, Trump could not be bothered with doing the research.
These are just some of his mistakes, and I’m just an outsider, but please, dear U.S. citizens, don’t step on the same rake again. Things will get better, but you need to go and vote!
