If we’re talking about the two most glamorous lifestyles one can
have, we easily end up with either being a celebrity or being part of
a royal family. It’s a lifestyle where odds are you’ll never have
to wonder about making ends meet financially, and – let’s be
honest – you’ll never have to work as hard as most people.
It only makes sense that if you’d be a celebrity, the only way to
go up in lifestyle is to either date or marry someone that’s part
of royalty. You can work yourself up to fame, but you have to be born
into royalty or get married into it. The fact that it’s that much
harder to obtain makes it more exclusive and therefore more
attractive.
Let’s take a look at some celebrities that made the jump to royalty
– be it permanently or temporary.
Meghan Markle
In case you weren’t aware of this: Meghan married Prince Harry.
Well, I guess now we just call him Harry since they left the British
Royal Family. They have a child together named Archie and they’re
currently making plans to move to the US and start a life there.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Despite never having been officially confirmed, 2002 was plagued by
some rumours that Gwyneth Paltrow was being very friendly with the
Spanish Felipe VI. There probably wasn’t a lot to this story, but
Gwyneth never took the effort to either confirm or deny them, so I
guess we’ll never really know if something was going on between
those two.
Jessica Chastain
Jessica’s husband, whom she married in 2017, Gian Luca Passi de
Preposulo, turns out to be of Italian aristocratic descent. His
family’s legacy dates all the way back to the 1300s, and they
naturally had the wedding in Gian’s family’s huge estate.
Naomi Campbell
While probably having been nothing more than just a short fling,
Naomi has dated Albert II of Monaco for a while. Albert II was a
known womanizer so even if the story holds any weight, we’re
guessing that the romance probably didn’t last very long.
Olivia Wilde
Before marrying Jason Sudeikis, Olivia was married to Tao Ruspoli.
Tao’s father was one of the princes (the 9th, to be specific) of
Cerveteri. This automatically meant that Olivia was in fact an
Italian princess. One of many, apparently, but it still counts.
Zsa Zsa Gabor
First off: Zsa Zsa had nine husbands so I guess statistically
speaking, one of them had to be royalty sooner or later. Her ninth
husband was Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, who was considered part of
the German royal family after being adopted by Marie-Auguste of
Anhalt at the age of 38.
Grace Kelly
Grace is probably the best known actress to start a life of royalty
after marrying Prince Rainier III. After her marriage to the Prince
of Monaco, she gave up her life as an actress and became a fulltime
royalty member.
Rob Lowe
Rob Lowe is here to represent the men who have dated royalty, which seems to happen a lot less than the reverse – at least when looking at celebrities. Rob had a short relationship in the 1980s with the daughter of the above mentioned Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III. Their relationship quickly lost its spark, after which they both knew they had to move on.
