As
the end of the year is rapidly approaching, the time has come to look
back for no more than twelve months and decide which the best horror
movies were. Whether you’re into slasher horror, zombie movies,
something dealing with epidemics or just plain weird Japanese stuff,
2019 had something for you.
Do
note that these are the best movies we’ve had this year, which is
by no means a guarantee that they’re good. They’re just all we’ve
got right now. Without further ado, let’s take a look.
Us
Jordan
Peele has been going at it really strongly in the horror department,
and Us has been getting amazing reviews since day one after its
release. The premise of the movie is weird enough – you return from
a trip one day and your family’s doppelgangers are waiting for you
in the driveway.

Chapter Two
Not
quite a sequel, just the second half of the story. The first chapter
was a wonderful horror experience, and even if this chapter is only
half as good you’ll still never want a clown at your birthday party
ever again.
Doctor
Sleep
The
long-awaited sequel to the legendary The Shining book/movie by
Stephen King. It’s probably not going to be as good as The Shining
– one could hardly expect any horror movie to be – but it’ll be
entertaining and keep you on the edge of your seat.
Zombieland:
Double Tap
If
you liked the first one, you’ll probably like this one. I’m
assuming you won’t like it if you didn’t like the first one
either. I mean, it’s a sequel. You’re just getting more of the
same, really. We’ve been over this.
Child’s
Play
It’s
always good to see Chucky back, isn’t it? While no remake can ever
be expected to reach the magic of the original movie, at least this
remake was a lot better than every Chucky sequel we’ve had in the
last 20-or-so years.
Pet
Sematary
Yes,
2019 was a good year for Stephen King horror movies. But just like
the other two, it’s a good one and definitely worth your time.
Brightburn
This
James Gunn movie has a simple premise: it starts off exactly like the
Superman story, but Superman turns out evil.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
It’s giant monsters fighting other giant monsters. What’s not to like? Also, there’s humans running around to somehow create the illusion that if giant creatures were fighting each other, we’d have any influence at all in who’d win.
