Top 7 Best Horror Parody Movies

If you’re one of the countless movie fans who like to tickle their nerves with some intense thrills, but you also want to have a good laugh, we have some excellent news for you! There are definitely funny horror movies out there, and you’re about to find out about which ones you should like because the internet told you so.

Here are seven best horror parody movies ever!

1. Evil Dead II (1987)

The first Evil Dead was good, but the second one was outright legendary. The genius of Sam Raimi’s writing and Bruce Campbell’s flawless acting hits your right from the get-go. It’s a parody of the first movie, but it’s done in the best way possible, with a ton of humor. Only one word comes to mind when you think of the Evil Dead franchise – “Groovy!”

2. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (1978)

You can just look at the title, and you’ll immediately understand why this movie is here. It’s supposed to be a spoof of all those crappy old sci-fi horrors about weird monsters. In this case, it’s a bunch of mutated tomatoes jumping around the town, killing people. And the only thing that can hurt them is, of course, rock music!

3. Shaun of the Dead (2004)

One of Edgar Wright’s most magnificent works is Shaun of the Dead. Imagine if the zombie apocalypse happened in Britain, and Simon Pegg has to deal with the aftermath. If you love cleverly written movies and British humor, this one is for you!

4. Scary Movie (2000)

The first horror parody I’ve ever watched was the Scary Movie, and I clearly remember thinking it was peak comedy! It turns out if you mix Scream with raunchy, inappropriate gags, you’ll get a hit movie. Who knew? In all seriousness, the jokes are mostly bad by today’s standards, but a classic is a classic.

5. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010)

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil starts as a regular old “redneck psycho” horror, but after a couple of minutes, you realize it’s something much better. Some city college kids meet ominous hillbillies who are definitely not trying to kill them. But people still keep dying, and it’s funny for some weird reason! Honestly, the less you know, the more you’ll enjoy it.

6. What We Do in the Shadows (2014)

This movie put Taika Waititi on the map of Hollywood directors, so you know it’s solid. If you enjoyed Thor: Ragnarok, there’s a high chance this mock documentary will make you roll on the floor laughing. Vampires are real, they live among us, and they’re worse than your grandma asking you to make her a Facebook page. It gathered a cult following almost immediately and even got a TV show this year!

7. The Cabin in the Woods (2012)

And lastly, the “big daddy” of horror spoofs – the Cabin in the Woods. Written and directed by Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon, this movie starts rather slow, but by the end, you won’t know what the heck just happened. Maybe it’s not as funny as the other movies, but it fully deserves the highest of praises. A genius work of art (and it has subtle funnies too)!
