Cars
in movies have been slowly gaining popularity in recent years, and I
think we all know that we can thank the Fast
and Furious franchise for that. While
they don’t exactly make for the most intellectual movies with the
most complex plot, they do manage to keep audiences entertained for
their full duration and they break the box office every time. I’m
sure the new Hobbs & Shaw spin-off will be no different.
Anyway,
as a homage to what this has done to our appreciation of a properly
made vehicle, let’s take a look at some of the best supercars that
we’ve seen in movies in more recent years.
Lamborghini
Murciélago Roadster
We
all love a good Lamborghini, and we all love Batman. It’s like it
was written in the stars that the Nolanverse’s Bruce Wayne would
drive one of these – and no one minded one bit. Also, the fact that
Murciélago literally means “bat” is a nice touch.
Aston
Martin DB5 V12
If
you see “Aston Martin,” you’re probably thinking James Bond –
and you’d be right. Casino Royale didn’t just introduce us to a
new, more gritty James Bond, it also introduced us to the lovely DB5
that we’d all like to take for a spin. Don’t lie to me.
Bugatti
Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse
While
people don’t exactly watch the Transformers movies to look at
amazing supercars, Age of Extinction
did have this wonderful Bugatti in it. It’s an expensive car, but
it’s easily one of the fastest and most unique looking cars in the
world.
Audi
R8 Spyder
Audi’s
attempt to get into the supercar market didn’t go by unnoticed, and
it’ll probably have to do with the fact that from Iron Man 2 on,
Tony Stark never drove anything that wasn’t an Audi R8 of some
sorts.
Ford
Shelby GT500
The
Ford Shelby is a legendary car with enough history in itself to fill
an entire article, but this particular car was seen in a movie where
you don’t even expect to see cars at all: I
Am Legend. That’s right: some
brilliant scientist is left alone on the planet, fighting off some
sort of zombie invasion, and he decides to keep driving a car that
uses up gas like it’s nobody’s business.
BMW
i8 Concept Spyder
Being a spy requires driving a supercar, and Ethan Hunt is no exception. Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol has Ethan running into all kinds of shenanigans and of course that one tactically placed BMW supercar.
