9 Dystopian Movie Worlds You’d never Want To Live In

We like to think that our
future will be nice and colorful but judging by some movies there’s a
good chance it’s going to be dark, gritty, and very scary. It’s the
de-evolution of the society that’s the most terrifying. People acting
like everything’s as it should be is the most depressing sight for a
sane human to witness. We don’t need monsters and undead zombies to
have a screwed up future. All it takes is technology and wrong people
with power. That’s how you know you’re living in a dystopia.

Here are 10 dystopian
movie worlds you’d never want to live in.

1. Mad Max

A post-apocalyptic world
where water, food, and fuel are much more valuable than human lives.
Needless to say, only a crazy person would want to live in a place
like that. But hey at least their scrap-cars are amazing!

2. Matrix

Would you like to be born
into a world where your only job is to be a battery for a race of
machines that keep billions of people in a shared computer-generated
reality? Yeah, didn’t think so.

3. V is for Vendetta

Near future. Great Britain
is struck with a deadly virus, which scared people into voting for a
nazi party Norsefire, and throwing the country into a nightmarish
totalitarian regime. If you’re not a snitch here, prepare to be
experimented on!

4. Alita Battle Angel

It’s the 26th
century. The human race has colonized most of the Solar system but
here on Earth, you have the uninhabited post-war Badlands and
occasional cities like Scrapyard, where the poverty and crime reign
supreme. Unlike the high and mighty of this world, who live in cities
way above the ground and don’t give a hoot about anyone but
themselves.

5. The Purge

One day in a year any and
all crimes are allowed without repercussions, even cold-blooded
murder. Screw that future! Imagine if internet users were given a
jail-free card. They’d be writing down names of those who “urt
them” the whole year only to then blow that man’s brains out!

6.
Snowpiercer

Human race is almost
extinct thanks to our carelessness towards the global warming, and a
few catastrophic attempts to fix it. What’s left of the humanity
rides the enormously long train called the Snowpiercer, where the
closer you are to the head of the train the more of an A-hole you
are. The further you are from the head, the more brutal are the
living conditions are. And also the planet is basically dead.

7. Equilibrium

After the WW3, the world
is in shambles. Totalitarian regime rules what’s left of the
civilization. Emotions are forbidden, so now everyone takes Prosium.
Anything that can cause any emotions, like works of art and memes are
outlawed and destroyed. Do you really want to live in a world without
dank memes?

8. Bladerunner

Replicants appeared on
Earth – androids that look exactly like people, but surpass us in
strength and intelligence. They were created to do all the dirty
work, but, guess what, they got sick of being slaves of their
creators. That future is as gray as they can get.

9. Judge Dredd

Most of the planet’s surface became a radioactive wasteland, so the remaining survivors have gathered into these enormous Mega-cities, like Mega City One, which covers about a third of the entire territory of the US and some Canada. That’s just one city. Most people living here are unemployed due to the automation process, so they go to war with other city blocks, sell drugs, and do all the crazy stuff you can think of. Thankfully the Judges are ready to execute even the most vicious of the villains. Still, a pretty crappy future overall.
