A Rihanna Museum Is Probably Opening Soon

I doubt anyone that
hasn’t been living under a huge – massive, really – rock the last few decades
hasn’t heard of Rihanna. The Barbadian popstar has been a huge influence on pop
culture for as long as pretty much anyone can remember, and I guess it was only
a matter of time before someone figured that she needed some recognition for
that. I mean, if the album sales, sold out concerts and Grammy awards don’t
count anymore, that is.

The Prime Minister of
Barbados, who is named Mia Amor Mottley, decided that the only real way to let
music artists know that you appreciate them is by creating a museum in their
honor. The fact that a museum dedicated to a world class pop star would be
placed on an island that gets most of its income from tourism seems to be
nothing more than a funny coincidence. Right?

There’s no arguing
that Rihanna is a person worthy of some form of special attention since she
does more than just making music now, I do wonder whether a museum dedicated to
a single person isn’t a bit much. Also, how would a museum for a music artist
even work? Do you give everyone headphones and do a silent disco thing? I’m
very confused by the concept.

The fact does remain that while this whole situation smells a bit like financial opportunism, Rihanna is and always has been very proud and vocal about her Barbadian roots. I guess that if a museum in her honor would be made, Rihanna herself would want it to be in her native country. There’s no date set for the museum currently, but I’m sure you’ll hear about it everywhere as the date approaches.
